EA Sports FC 27 has been on sale since September 25, and Liverpool's captain remains the club's best-rated player in the game. Virgil van Dijk opens at 88, one point clear of Alisson, with Alexander Isak, Dominik Szoboszlai and Florian Wirtz all on 86.
The bigger stories sit further down the list. Szoboszlai and Hugo Ekitike have both been upgraded after strong 2025-26 seasons, and Rio Ngumoha has made the largest jump in the squad.
Ultimate Team runs on coins. They are earned by playing matches, completing objectives and Squad Building Challenges, and selling players on the transfer market, where EA takes 5 percent of every completed sale. They are spent on the players and items that turn a starter squad into a competitive one.
A Liverpool side is one of the more natural builds in the game. The squad shares strong nationality links, with Van Dijk, Ryan Gravenberch, Jeremie Frimpong and Cody Gakpo all Dutch, and Szoboszlai and Milos Kerkez both Hungarian. Add the Premier League link and chemistry comes easily. Those are also the cards Liverpool supporters chase first, which is why demand for FC 27 coins peaks in the opening weeks, when prices for popular Premier League players are at their highest.
Outside the game, coins are also offered by third-party platforms such as LootBar, which serves Ultimate Team players on console and PC.
It is worth knowing the rules before spending. EA's user agreement does not permit coins to be traded outside the game, and the publisher has previously sanctioned accounts it linked to third-party coin transfers. How players weigh that is their own call, but it belongs in the picture.

The club's own ratings breakdown singles out three upgrades. Ngumoha rises seven points to 75, which gives him his first gold card in Ultimate Team. Szoboszlai gains three after his 2025-26 season, and Ekitike moves from 83 to 85 following his first campaign at Anfield.
EA's full Liverpool squad ratings also show where the pace is. Frimpong and Víctor Muñoz both have 94 pace, the highest in the squad, while Ngumoha sits on 90. Mohamed Salah does not appear in Liverpool's FC 27 squad.
All three of LFC Women's highest-rated players are summer signings. Forward Vivien Endemann leads at 80, goalkeeper Khiara Keating follows on 79 and defender Sara Agrez is rated 78. Alejandra Bernabe, Grace Fisk, Beata Olsson and Sophie Roman Haug share a rating of 75.
Liverpool's history is also represented in Ultimate Team through its Icons. Steven Gerrard, Kenny Dalglish and Fernando Torres are all available as Icon cards in FC 27, and they remain among the most expensive items a Liverpool-focused squad can target. EA has made a change to how Icons link with other players this year, with Icons now adding less nationality chemistry than before, which makes them slightly harder to fit into a squad built around current players.
Gerrard's place in a Liverpool XI needs no explanation for readers of this site. Our profile of Dominik Szoboszlai tracks how the current midfield's leading figure is building his own record at the club, and our piece on every Liverpool captain since 1892 puts Van Dijk's armband, and Gerrard's before him, in context.
