Additional information from Sheffield Wednesday historian: 'Liverpool apologised for sending a second-string team due to their impending Test Match which probably had an effect on the attendance which was a much less than anticipated 3000 although it generated receipts of £56/10/9d towards his fund which was no doubt a useful sum of money at the time. Unsurprisingly Wednesday comfortably won 4-0 with Liverpool ending up with only 9 men in the latter stages due to injuries.'
