Kane impressed in midfield for Doncaster Rovers who reached the play-offs of League One in the 2018-/19 season. He was expected to be loaned out again for 2019/20. The 20-year-old made his first-team debut as a substitute in Liverpool's 2-0 win at MK Dons in the third round of the Carabao Cup on 25 September 2019. Kane was loaned to Championship team Hull City in the 2020 January transfer window. He scored twice in seven games but was unable to help save them from relegation to League One.

On 16th October 2020 Kane was sold to Barnsley for £1.25 million signing a four year deal with the Championship side. He struggled to make an impact, starting just six times and having his season ended in March by knee injury. After failing to make any of the first five league matchday squads in 2021/22, a loan deal with Oxford United in League One was agreed for the remainder of the season. He had a productive spell there, starting 34  league games in midfield and assisting in six goals. Back at Barnsley for 2022/23 he was a regular in midfield, scoring four goals from forty appearances as the Tykes made the play off final, losing 1-0 to Sheffield Wednesday. He had another impressive season in 203/24, scoring nine times in 41 games as Barnsley again lost out in the play offs. A free agent, he signed a three year deal in July 2024 with Huddersfield, newly relegated to League One from the Championship. After featuring regularly in  2025/25, he sustained a groin injury early the following season. With Huddersfield pushing for the playoffs and game time not guaranteed on his return, in January 2026 a loan to Plymouth was sanctioned for the remainder of the season.
