Player Profile

Centre-half Clayton joined the club at under 9 level. He was an unused substitute for Liverpool's first team in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup against Aston Villa on 17 December 2019. He is able to operate as a defensive midfielder or across the back four. In 2020/21 he featured 24 times for the Under 23's in Premier League 2. The following season he skippered the side, lifting the Lancashire Trophy. However he was 21 by the summer and with progression to the first team looking unlikely, he moved to Swindon Town on 12th July 2022.

In 2022/23 Clayton featured regularly for his new club. However a thigh injury sustained in a pre season game ruled him out for the first half of 2023/24. After returning to action, he played only four games before a back injury ended up ruling him out for the rest of the campaign.
