Player Profile

Vitezslav Jaros is a talented goalkeeper who joined Liverpool in August 2017 from Slavia Prague. He started in the Under 18's and was part of the FA Youth Cup winning squad in 2019. In July that year he played against Tranmere in a pre season friendly and he was on the bench for the FA Cup fourth round replay with Shrewsbury on 4 February 2020, when none of the first team squad were involved.

Jaros was on the bench for three of Liverpool's Champions League group games in 2020/21 then in February was loaned to St Patrick's Athletic for the duration of their season in the League of Ireland. He spent the second half of 2021/22 at Notts County in the National League and also made his first appearance for the Czech under 21 side. On 4 July 2022 it was announced he would spend the forthcoming season on loan with League Two side Stockport. He started eleven games but after being injured in a game at Salford City in October he was unable to regain the number one spot and was on the bench 26 times as Stockport reached the play off final, losing on penalties to Carlisle United.

After spending the first half of 2023/24 at Liverpool, where he was named as a home grown player in the Europa League squad, Jaros was loaned to Austria side Sturm Graz for the second half of the season. He had a successful spell there, being installed as first choice keeper and winning a league and cup double. In June he made his first appearance for his country, coming on as a half time substitute in a 7-1 victory over Malta. The departure of Adrian meant he remained at Liverpool for 2024/25 as third choice keeper. Jaros made his first-team debut at Crystal Palace on 5 October 2024 when Alisson got injured in the 79th minute and Kelleher was absent from the bench. His first start was at Brighton in the League Cup on 30 October that year. In June 2025 he signed a new long term contract with Liverpool before agreeing a one year loan at Ajax, where former Reds assistant manager John Heitinga had recently been appointed as first team coach. Jaros was promised that he would start the 2025/26 season as the Dutch club's first choice keeper.
