Player Profile

Pilling is a promising midfielder from St Helens. He has been part of Liverpool’s Academy system since the age of five and made his debut for the under-18 side while still an under-16 in the 2020/21 season. In the summer of 2022, he was rewarded with his first professional contract. Pilling captained the under-18s on several occasions and later moved into the under-21 squad, where he has continued his development and contributed with goals as well as strong defensive work. Coaches have praised his versatility, as he is comfortable playing deeper in midfield, pushing forward into attacking positions, and even filling in as a striker when required. Known for his composure, passing ability and energy, Pilling has also been recognised for his willingness to compete in duels and his effectiveness without the ball. His progress has led to first-team involvement, including pre-season outings and training sessions, and he was named on the bench for the League Cup tie against Southampton on 23 September 2025.
