Player Profile
Wilkinson joined Liverpool from famed amateur side Bishop Auckland. He played 18 times in the First Division, mostly as a half-back in the second half of the 1953/54 season, at the end of which the club was relegated. Once in the Second Division Roy Saunders was more often preferred to Wilkinson as the team's number four. After finishing the 1958/59 season as a regular Wilkinson featured more often than not in the first half of the following season until a certain Bill Shankly arrived, who cut him from the team and sold him to Bangor City in the summer. Wilkinson stayed three years at Bangor before joining Tranmere Rovers in 1963 where he stayed only one season. Wilkinson finished his career with Holyhead Town in Wales.
