Player Profile
Ogston won the Scottish Junior cup at Aberdeen's Banks O'Dee in 1957, which is still the greatest achievement in the club's history. Shortly after that he joined the biggest club in his native city, Aberdeen. After spending three years as Dons' reserve goalkeeper he was their number one from 1960-1965, making a total of 230 appearances and gained legendary status. Nicknamed "Tubby" as he was a big lad was signed by Shankly as a deputy to Tommy Lawrence. In four years he only played one game for the Reds in a 3-1 League victory over Newcastle on 7 April 1967. He went initially on loan to Doncaster in August 1968, before being sold to them permanently in July 1969 as Ray Clemence was establishing himself as Liverpool's number one. Ogston played well into his 30's for several teams in the Highland league.
