Player Profile
Liverpool-born England amateur international 'Bert' Childs replaced regular right-back Ray Lambert for two consecutive matches in the First Division in the autumn of 1953, having signed as an amateur in January 1952. Childs experienced the best and worst of Liverpool's season as his first game resulted in a 4-0 home win over Derby County when Louis Bimpson scored all four in the first-half whereas just seven days later Liverpool were humiliated 6-0 by Charlton Athletic at the Valley.
