Player Profile
Left-half Christie was obtained from St Johnstone Young Men's Club during World War II but he only made it as far as the reserve team at Liverpool. He was loaned out to Forfar in 1945/46 and was bought by the club at end of the season. He was called for National Service and after he was demobbed he returned to Liverpool, having obtained him from Forfar Athletic. He spent a year in the reserves before making his long-awaited first-team debut in the unusual position of outside-left in a goalless draw with Manchester United on 15 March 1950 at Old Trafford. Christie played as left-half in a 1-0 win over Charlton, a 5-1 defeat against Newcastle and a 1-0 loss to Burnley. Christie went back to the reserves in the 1950/51 season and left the club in January 1951. He became a resounding success with East Fife in Scotland, described as "a grand tackling wing half-back who gets the ball through with intelligence." Christie was East Fife's manager from 1973-1976.
