Player Profile

Davidson was a fierce-tackling central defender who only missed six of the 42 League matches during the 1928/29 season, in which he scored once, the second-half winner against West Ham at Anfield on 13 March 1929. He played in the first 21 League fixtures of the following season before being replaced by Tom Bromilow for three games. He was sold to Newcastle within a week after the record signing of Tiny Bradshaw from Bury. Davidson added a second career goal for Liverpool, in a 3-3 draw at Portsmouth on 2 November 1929. From 1930-1936 Davidson played 142 games for Newcastle where he won the FA Cup in 1932 but was also relegated to the Second Division in 1934.
