Player Profile

Finnerhan scored 27 goals in 85 matches for second division Manchester City. He only featured in the 1897/98 season for the Reds when he played five League games as a centre-forward and three FA Cup matches as an inside-right. He scored just one goal for the first team, a winner in the last minute against Wolves at Anfield on 20 November 1897. In 1901 the Manchester Courier reported on Finnerhan’s achievements with the birds he had been raising. He was a member of Wittonia Flying Club based in Northwich and his old birds won the Worcester, Swindon and Bournemouth races and his young ones the Worcester and Cheltenham races. Finnerhan secured “no less than £13 in prize money.”
