Player Profile

After impressing against Liverpool's reserve team for Accrington Stanley Garside signed for the "Livers". Garside, who had served apprenticeship as a engine fitter and was considered the best outside-left in the Lancashire Combination, could now focus just on football. He made five appearances for Liverpool taking over the centre-forward position from Sam Raybould for the fixture with Lincoln City in January 1905, one of only two League matches the prolific Raybould missed during the club's second division championship-winning season. Garside was given four more opportunities the following year, when the club managed to achieve the very rare feat of winning the League Championship only one season after being promoted from the Second Division. Garside found his level at Exeter City in the Southern league playing 110 games and scoring 22 goals from 1909-1913.
