Player Profile

Jones was Liverpool's reserve goalkeeper during the 1924/25 season. Elisha Scott had been firmly established as the club's last line of defence for many years, but when he got injured against Manchester United in the Lancashire Senior cup, the big Irishman missed three matches after he had featured in 121 consecutive League games. Jones stepped in and conceded six goals in those three November games but finally kept 'a clean sheet' in his fourth and final appearance for the club, a 1-0 home victory over Tottenham Hotspur on 18 April 1925.
