Player Profile
Shears arrived as a striker who scored five goals in his first three reserve games for Liverpool from late September to early October 1924. He finally made his first-team debut two years later as a defender in a 1-0 win over Bury at Gigg Lane. He spent a total of four seasons at Anfield making 16 appearances with his best season total being eight in 1926/27, again featuring as a defender. Shears died only 54 years of age as he collapsed while at work at Leyland Motors.
