Player Profile

Centre-half South joined the groundstaff at his hometown club Brighton 15 years of age and was a regular in the third division south side from 1953-1954 making a total of 81 League appearances for the Seagulls before joining his old boss, Don Welsh, at Liverpool. South was unfortunately one of many promising players who didn't make it at Anfield and made only seven appearances for Liverpool during the 1954/55 season. He moved to Halifax Town in October 1956, which was in Third Division North. South made 302 League appearances for Halifax Town and is considered a legend in those parts.
