Player Profile
Whitworth signed for Liverpool in February 1950 but didn't make his debut until 1 March 1952, away to Fulham. There were 11 matches remaining of the season and he played in nine of them in Phil Taylor's absence at right-half.
In October 1952 a knee injury sustained in a reserve game ended Whitworth's career. He returned to his native Derbyshire and went into the licensing trade, running pubs in Ilkeston, Kirby-in-Ashfield and Beeston. He died in Basford in 2006.
