Player Profile

Worgan was in Liverpool's reserves in the club's first-ever season, 1892/93. He was an amateur player so he could play for whoever he wanted as long as he remained an amateur. He played for Aigburth Vale in the early parts of the 1893/94 season before signing league forms and scoring two goals on his Liverpool debut at home to Burton Swifts on 3 March 1894. Worgan only made one additional first-team appearance for Liverpool in a home first division clash with Sheffield United on 6 October 1894 after which he was said "much too light; but beyond that when he gets over his nervousness and becomes more used to to the speed of First League matches he will prove a fairly good emergency man." Albert's brother, Alfred, was a goalkeeper for Liverpool Casuals at the turn of the century. Albert went on to become a director of Liverpool FC up until his death in 1920.
