Player Profile

A centre-half who signed as an amateur on 8 August 1941. Finney was one of 38 players who represented Liverpool during the 1945/46 season but as this was soon after the end of World War II when numerous clubs had 'guest' players, the fixtures are not usually recognised in official records and were in case played in the Football League (North) and not the National First Division which resumed in 1946/47. However, the FA Cup continued as usual although over two legs and it was in the third round against Chester on 5 January 1946 that Finney made his only competitive appearances for the club. He featured as well in ten wartime matches for Liverpool.
