- Jack Cox and Alex Raisbeck were unavailable because they had been called up to represent England and Scotland respectively for a Home International Championship match at Ibrox Park, Glasgow. The match finished in a 1-1 draw but the result was declared void after 25 spectators died and over 500 were injured when part of the West Tribune Stand collapsed due to heavy rainfall the previous night. The countries met again at Villa Park, Birmingham four weeks later and played out a 2-2 draw. Both Cox and Raisbeck played in the re-arranged fixture.
