Player Profile
'Oggy' arrived at Anfield from Chesterfield in November 1977 as cover for the outstanding Ray Clemence after only 18 games in Chesterfield's first team. The former cop was a fine goalkeeper in his own right as witnessed by the remarkable career he subsequently had with Coventry, but his chances of displacing the England international were always going to be very slim. Ogrizovic conceded four goals against Derby on his Reds' debut on 8 March 1978. This was the first game Clemence had missed since 9 September 1972, having made 336 appearances in a row! Ogrizovic did keep a clean sheet in the Leeds game three days later, but then Clemence returned. The giant reserve 'keeper made only three first-team appearances over the next three seasons. He won an FA Cup winners' medal in 1987 with the Sky Blues. He played his 600th game for Coventry and his 719th in total against Liverpool on 1 April 2000!
