1st Division

Old Trafford | 23 November 1963 at15:00UK local time

Manchester United 0 - 1 Liverpool

Goals (Assists in brackets)

Notes

  • - Ron Yeats scores his first LFC goal
  • - The attendance was lower than expected, especially as United had attracted nearly 63,000 for Everton's visit earlier in the season. Although there was no direct link to the event, the assassination of American President John F Kennedy the day before the match might have affected the attendance.

    - Manchester United goalkeeper Harry Gregg was stretchered off shortly before the half-time interval after a collison with Ron Yeats as the two of them went up for a corner. Forward David Herd replaced Gregg in goal. Gregg did return for the final few minutes with an arm strapped to his chest. It turned out that he had broken his collar-bone.
